Editorial Director, BBC
Kamal Ahmed is the new Editorial Director of the BBC, with responsibility for shaping the BBC’s future editorial strategy, focusing on storytelling and explanatory journalism.
Kamal joined the BBC in 2014 as Business Editor, two years later he moved to the role of Economics Editor. Prior to 2014, Kamal worked for four and a half years as business editor of the Sunday Telegraph and before that was head of news and political editor of The Observer.
His love of journalism started at Leeds Student, Leeds University’s student newspaper, where he first tasted life as a reporter in a basement office with no windows.
